For this exercise we had to choose a word from the previous exercise and collect imagery stemming from our sketches. My search re-enforced the association of bright colours with ‘exotic’ and also brought to light the many interesting textures that exist, mainly from animal skins. I thought these textures provide opportunities for further exploration so I have included a number of them in my moodboard. While ‘exotic’ can refer to the location itself, to me, it, more significantly, denotes the flaura and fauna that exist there. And these inhabitants of exotic locatiions are the source of the colour through their display characteristics. I could have expanded my idea of exotic to include notions of beauty but as this is entirely subjective I felt it was not useful to visual depictions of the word.
